The first two weeks of being a mother of two have been great. The whole first week Matt was off of work and we had a great time just hanging out and getting the hang of things. Adam absolutely was in heaven and the day Matt went back to work, Adam kept going to the door and crying his name and saying 'Dada, no work'. He didn't want him to be at work at all, Adam is a huge Daddy's boy. We've been a little nervous about how Adam would react to a baby in the home, but we need not to have worried. Adam has been a super champ with Emma, he is constantly bringing her toys, blankets, binkies, diapers, and sometimes food. I think I may have to start worrying about too much love, one morning we found Emma covered in all of Adam's pillows, blankets, and favorite stuffed animals in her bassinet. Good thing Matt noticed!! Adam always goes running into her to check on her when she cries and he doesn't let me do anything until I help her stop crying. When Emma was three days old, Adam was in the bathroom with me talking about 'baby Amma' and I told him to go check on her. He was gone long enough for me to spit and rinse out my toothpaste, when I walked into my room with Adam sitting on my bed with Emma laying right next to him. I totally freaked out! He had lifted her out of her bassinet and laid her on the bed next to him. Luckily she was all wrapped up cacoon-like so luckily he didn't dislocate any arms or legs. Her face was pretty red though so I imagine he pulled her out feet first, but she was still asleep so it must not have been to traumatizing. There was one instance where Adam thought that Emma was being taken away and absolutely went bonkers. He started screaming 'baby, baby!' and tried to stop the person holding Emma, it took several minutes to calm him down and to help him see that she wasn't going anywhere. He is very protective of her if he thinks that they are being split up, it may be my left over pregnancy hormone but I must admit it about makes me cry when he does this. I hope he is always this protective of her!

Emma at one week old. She is truly such a good baby, she's a good eater and a great sleeper.
Em is a happy girl, she gives us lots of these cute smiles and I swear they are real and not from gas. :)
This is Adam during scripture study, he kept disappearing all the way under. I probably shouldn't have taken a picture, now he'll keep doing it. He's been doing weird little things like this, no doubt for attention.
The second week went well, but we had three visits to the doctor. The first was her two week check-up. It went well and she's healthy. While there, the dr. pulled off a small part of her cord that was still there. No big deal, but then each day after that her belly button kept bleeding a little. The next dr visit was for Adam, he's had some tummy problems that we've tried to fix since May and it wasn't working, so the doc told me what to do with Adam and also cauterized Emma's belly button to make it stop bleeding. Three days later we were back again. Emma has thrush, so hopefully that clears up fast for both of our benefits. It's funny, because all of us are healthy and happy, its just the little things that popped up this week that required the dr.'s help. Too bad it couldn't have all happen in one visit. I guess that's what happens when you have kids :)
First is before cleaning her belly button, this is what it looks like every morning, and this last picture is after cleaning it up. When the dr cauterized it, it seems to have dyed her skin too. Poor girl.

I keep meaning to tell you congratulations! Emma is a doll- looking forward to seeing her grow and reading about your cute little family. Anna got thrush within the first few weeks, and so I can totally commiserate with you. Hopefully it will pass soon with you both. Our experience with thrush was during the winter months and so maybe that is one reason it seemed to linger for several weeks longer than expected. Wishing for the best for you, and again congratulations.
She is SO cute! I love all that black hair. Did Adam have hair like that? Congrats you guys.
Those pictures are so cute. Adam is such a good big brother!
Sweet beautiful Emma and protective Adam. They are so dear. They make me smile just seeing the pictures
Congrats she is really cute! I hope you can get rid of the thrush fast, I had it for 3 months with Brilee, we finally had to use that purple stuff that you paint on their tounge.
She is a doll hope you bring her to shellys shower I promise I'll wash my hands! 80)
I love all the pictures! Emma is so cute, and Adam looks so big. Austin was sitting next to me and didn't think Adam belonged to you guys. I guess he didn't realize how old he really was and was still expecting him to be tiny.....go figure.
Haha! Your stories are so funny! Emma is adorable- and like Emily said PLEASE bring her to the shower? I also totally forget how huge Adam is, I love it! I think Rock is going to be nice and sturdy like he is so I like to see where he is at :) It sounds like you guys are doing great which I am so glad to hear!!
Jessica congrats on baby Emma. She is absolutely beautiful. That hair is darling. And your little boy is so cute!
She is beautiful!!! I can totally relate on being freaked out when they move the baby and you cannot imagine how it happened! Bryce did the same thing with Dane and I had to have him tell me how he got him off the bed!! He just comes in carrying him like it is nothing!
