Head over Heels
One day I was waiting for Adam to wake up from his nap, and I hear this horrible crash and Adam begins to scream bloody murder. I run into his room and there he is on the floor crying, he had climbed out of his crib and fallen right on his head leaving a carpet burn. I was confused as to how he could get out, his crib is all the way down and he doesn't have anything but a blanket and a small stuffed animal that he sleeps with so it's not like he can pile his stuff up and climb out. He doesn't have anything right next to the outside of his crib to climb on either, and he's the most inflexible kid ever, so one day I watched him when he didn't know. I had no idea he was that strong!. He pulls himself up like a pull-up, but he just goes right up and over head first. So here's my dilemma. Do we continue to let him do this and just hope he doesn't break his neck one day or is it time for a big boy bed? We were going to buy him a toddler bed in a couple months right before the new baby comes, but I don't know if 19 months is too early. I would love some advice!

Poor guy!
I put both my boys in a big boy bed at 18 months (because I had a baby coming both times...) Kaden did exceptional and it took Justin a few times, but he did great too. Good luck with which ever you decide!
HA HA HA! Aubree did the exact same thing! I had her down into her toddler bed before she was 18 months! She did really good, but she is really good when I put her in bed. I was really worried that she would get out and play with her toys but she didn't and still doesn't! I think he would be totally fine in a toddler bed! But it is up to you. I didn't want Aubree breaking bones, that is why I put her in her toddler bed!
oh poor kiddo (even MORE poor YOU!) I have no pearls of wisdom here for you.... for our daughter is as UNathletic as they get and therefore will be in a crib until she's 16 years old.
Whatever you guys do, hopefully the transitions will be easy and PAINLESS!!!
That is too funny! Sad too though! Carter is a climber but luckily hasn't figured out that one yet!!! I could use advise from other people and being a first time mom I don't have any for ya!
Ug. I don't know. Fortunatley my kids have never done that. I have heard about turning the crib around so the really night side is in front but then you have the problem with the sides. As with the age. I don't know. Garrett is still in his crib and he's 2. dyllon didn't get out of his until he was 2 and a half. Good luck though. Sorry i wasn't much help.
That exact same thing happened with Kanyon, it scared me so bad! It's amazing the things that kids figure out. It's probably time for a big boy bed. We put Tyce in one when he was about 19 months and he did fine. It will be a long week because they love the freedom of moving around and getting out of their bed, but eventually he will get used to it. Hopefully he can't open doors yet :)
Adam cracks me up! He'll find a way out, even if he can't lift his leg up more than an inch or two... that's the Jenkins in him.
Jess, this is a tough one! My kids had a hard time moving to a toddler bed. It made nap time VERY difficult. Every kid is different though, and Adam may do just fine. It might be nice to have the adjustment out of the way before you get too uncomfortable (it was a lot of physical work placing them back in bed over and over). Good luck with that.
That's crazy that he can get out of his crib already! Good luck, I have no advice to give as of yet, but I'm sure I'll be seeking your advice on the same issue at a later point in life, so I hope you get some good advice from others.
That's crazy! He's like a little he-man.
Oh, good luck Jess. All kids are different, so who knows. What a cutie though!!
