We came into the year 2013 happy and positive that it was going to be a great one and it hasn't disappointed one bit! January flew by with doing nothing super special but still finding fun things to do. We discovered the kids LOVE to cut up oranges and pineapple to juice them.
We frequently found them here pretending to read to each other. The top bunk bed really is the coolest place to be.
There was a massive ice storm that covered EVERYTHING with a thick layer of ice. The picture doesn't really do justice, but the ground is so shiny with ice. It would even hold my weight on top of the snow as slipped across it!
Adam is holding a chunk of ice that he pulled off. We skated on our walkways for the whole afternoon.
February
This month passed with me taking a total of 3 pictures, lame I know! But we kept busy with legos and toys galore. We also found out we were expecting baby #3 and were so excited to tell the kids since Adam was continually asking when we were having a baby.
March
Just happy to be outside
The kids were super excited to color Easter eggs, and yes I made them be in their underwear, last year we ruined clothes.
The Plain City Candy Hunt. Adam and I were seconds late the year before and he got hardly any candy, so he made sure that we were early this year! We met up with his Plain City cousins and grandparents there.
They came away with quite the haul!
Egg hunt with my side of the family, we did this on Saturday since we spent Sunday with Matt's family.
Coloring eggs with Matt's fam.
Easter morning after all the eggs were found!
April
We made one of the biggest decisions of our life this month. After searching high and low, we bought a house!! We closed on the 26th and moved in right away. The house was great inside, but we spent a TON of time and energy on the yard. The kids were in absolute heaven and started taking daily naps again, at first I was a little concerned that Adam was so tired all the time but we quickly realized its from having so much room to literally run around in. I sadly did not think to take a picture of right when we moved in, because we have improved the yard it doesn't look quite the same. I feel I have a valid excuse, February, March, and April I was a little zoned out with pregnancy sickness. I just felt lucky to have packed up our house.
May
We were settling into our new house and the kids didn't forget about their tradition of waving out the window to Matt everyday. They always did from the kitchen window in our plain city house and now they do it out the front...
And then they run to the side window in the dining room and wave again. Matt has learned that he is required to wave at both areas.
May brings the Ogden marathon, and Matt signed up this year. I had signed up for the half but didn't feel like I could do it more than 20 weeks pregnant, so I gave my spot to my brother Blake. It was a cold and rainy day, I'm sure the runners were miserable because even we were under our umbrellas. But I was determined to be a better wife this time around and not miss Matt running across the finish line. Here's Matt giving Adam a high five.
Matt just finishing up!
Matt and his two brothers after they finished, they were so saturated that their hands were prunish.
Adam had his preschool graduation. I loved his teachers and his school, they were so cute with him and all the fun field trips they went on.
Mrs. Ellis (who taught me when I went to plain city elementary preschool) and Ms. Dixie.
The proud mother and father.
Adam had his first little crush on the cutest little girl name Alexis, he was constantly trying to say hi to her and he was pointing her out to us. When he found out that he wouldn't be going to the same school as her the next year, he cried and said, "How will I ever see her again?"
June
Emma loves to play in my makeup. It's usually when I'm in the shower that she does it.
In between the crazy-ness of moving and unpacking we found time to go to the zoo with the cousins.
All 4 granddaughters waiting patiently for their turn on the carousel.
Our backyard. There used to be an in-the-ground swimming pool, but something happened and the previous owners had to demo it and bury it. Which is fine by me, I wouldn't have bought a house with a pool! But there was no grass, tons of weeds, and Matt had to re-do 75% of the sprinkling system as it was sticking out of the ground in some areas. We spent countless hours every night working back there!
Adam is slightly anxious about a lot of things. One was riding his bike without training wheels. We tried last summer but he was so worried about the thought of me letting go of him that he couldn't even get on the bike. So the training wheels went back on and he was happy again. Then this spring I was so sick that I didn't have the motivation to teach him so he kept riding with them on. When we moved he loved to ride his bike in the back yard on the hard packed dirt, a couple times he crashed and his training wheels were bent up. Without us knowing he sat down and unscrewed the loosened bolt and the next thing I hear is him yelling at us that he's riding by himself, we look and there he is riding without his training wheels. He totally taught himself how to start and stop by himself! Picture below.
We did some boating in June also, which the kids love to play at the back of the boat.
Both kids were brave enough to do the little skier, of course Emma was the first one to go.
One of the favorite things is to wake surf. Adam and Emma will go with anyone willing to take them.
June is my birthday month, I turned 28 this year. But more importantly it was this kiddo's birthday too. He turned the big 5. I cannot believe it has gone so fast. Adam is such a smart and caring little boy and we are so happy to have him in our family. Emma would be lost without him.
All he wanted was a pirate ship cake, I was so glad that it turned out for him.
July
Matt putting on the required mosquito spray. For some reason, those bugs love Matt's blood.
3rd of July night at my parents. Matt's family all went to Kentucky to see his sister so we spent the whole holiday with my family.
Emma hates fireworks. She hid under the blanket but she was drenched with sweat and didn't even care.
Morning of the parade with bags ready to collect all the candy.
Swim party with all the cousins after at Grandma Bars'.
In the late afternoon we took the kids home since all the festivities were over. We lit non-scary fireworks in our driveway and Emma enjoyed them. Then after the kids were in bed Matt and I sat on our back deck and watched the whole valley light up. It was so cool that we got to see all the different cities' fireworks.
About mid-july we finally finished what needed to be done for grass to grow. After almost 3 months! I still cringe to think about all we had to do, like tilling the whole back yard, all I can say is that I'm grateful for Matt and how hard he worked at it because I could only help so much.
Hydro-seed, yay!!
3 days later, the rain storm of the year. The whole backyard was a mudslide and all the seed went with it. I wanted to cry!
The grass that was already there at the bottom of the property became thicker after that storm. We have reseed it ourselves twice and it finally looks decent.
All she wanted was a tangle birthday cake. I made a really cute one with rapunzel's tower with a cool top and the cake was the green grass around the tower. Well it was so hot in my house the tower fell over and was not fixable, I didn't even get a picture of it before it fell. It happened just minutes before we were to sing to her, I felt super bad and promised her an awesome cake next year, but she didn't even seem to notice.
My family had our reunion, Jed and Shannon were in charge this year and chose Browne Lake near Flaming Gorge. It was a great spot and I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We visited Flaming Gorge dam and had a tour and then ate lunch. After Matt and I took the kids fishing at the bottom of the dam with Blake and Luke, we were told it was supposed to be awesome fishing. We didn't catch a thing, yet could see some HUGE trout right by us, they must have been to use to fisherman and super smart.
We got back to camp and made a little dam of our own with Brent. Matt picked an awesome place for our tent, we were across this little stream and he made a little bridge for us to walk on. The only drawback was being 30 weeks pregnant and having to go across it in the middle of the night to the bathroom. Adam and Emma was so excited about it though, that I couldn't say no!
(we restored the stream to it's natural state after we were done)
August
August was filled with more boating and playing trying to squeeze everything in before school started.
36 weeks pregnant and I dared to make a fool out of myself, good thing only family was on the boat. A fun picture to show my little guy that he went wake surfing with me.
Matt in the sumo suit, it was an awesome/crazy ride for him. It looked pretty rough and I think he ended up with some bruising afterwards.
First day of school. Adam was so excited to start kindergarten and wasn't even worried about not being at his old school. So far he has loved going everyday and still gets excited about it
September
Matt's family was invited by our sister in law to her family's cabin to go shooting for the day. We jumped at the chance and made a day out of it. Adam was so excited to learn to shoot and Emma was just excited. It was in a beautiful, remote setting so there was no one to bother us.
Adam was confident to shoot by himself and it was a small enough gun that Matt let him. I don't think either could have been more proud.
True Emma style, just lounging by all the snacks enjoying herself.
The past 9 months have flown by. We've kept busying playing, working, and trying to organize our house. We are so happy where we are at and are looking forward to the next life changing event. We are due October 1st with another little boy and can't wait to meet him, he is already so dearly loved!

I am so glad you updated before the baby comes. You have so many fun pictures. Can't wait to meet Noah!
36 wks prego and wake surfing?? Atta girl!! Way to keep priorities straight, ha. I've wondered what I'd do if I was pregnant over the summer. Now I know I could just do it! :)
You are awesome to do this much catching up! Even though it has been a while since you had Noah, congrats and he is sooo cute :)
