Emma is 3 months old now. I definitely have mixed feelings about this. As I stated in my blog previously, I love the new born stage. I love that she cuddles, fits perfectly on my chest, and is so peaceful. But now that I've had Adam go through the older stages, I know how fun it is and I want her to go through it now too. She has stayed newborn-like a lot longer than Adam ever did, he was way too big when he was born and he could hold up his head immediately so he never seemed like a newborn to us. Em could fit in her newborn and 3 months clothes for quite a while, then she had a huge growth spurt and suddenly now fits well into her 6 months, and she wore her first 9 month outfit today. So much for wanting her to stay little for longer. She talks a lot all day, and I don't know if it's because she's a girl or just their different personalities, but she yells and squeals while Adam just grunted or was quiet. Yet she's not mad, she's just talking. Emma is a good sleeper, but no matter what time I put her down, she wakes up at 6 am. So I fooled her and learned that I can put her down at 6 in the evening and she'll go until 6. haha little girl! Emma sometimes just doesn't want to be held, which when I finally realized this I was so surprised. Adam could be held ALL day long. So I lay her down on the floor and she's suddenly happy. She also usually doesn't like to be rocked when going to sleep, she just wants to be left alone in her crib. Which is fine with me, I don't like to rock my kids all the way to sleep, but just help them get drowsy or to cuddle. She could watch Adam all day, and she's content to just be in the same room as us. Only Matt can get her to laugh uncontrollably, and Adam likes to see how much he can make her smile.
This is how Emma has to sleep, and I know this looks like torture but she loves it. She has to be swaddled tight enough that he arms can't reach up or she knocks out her binky and claws at her face. The edge of the blanket has to go over the tip of her binky to help kind of hold it in. And yes people, I know that pacifiers are not supposed to be tied, forced, or whatever you want to call it. But this girl can't hold a binky in for longer than 1 minute but she wants something to suck on, and it's just the edge of the blanket that barely covers the binky. She pushes it out during the night, and once every couple nights I have to go put it back in for her. I've tried so many different ways to have her sleep, but this is the only way she will. Adam did the same thing too though.

I know everyone hears this all the time, but it's really true when they say it. It doesn't seem like it has been long enough for her to be three months old, yet it feels like she has always been a part of our family. I know, I'm a cheeser.

Oh, I love cheesy posts! So keep em coming. It is crazy to think how fast 3 months can go by. She's such a doll Jess, and as I was reading through I started to remember all the quirky things Elle did as a newborn. That seems like forever ago. She's a sweet little baby girl.
