What we've been up to

Track has finally ended!! Unfortunately not many of our team made it to state this year, we just didn't have a big team even though it's a 5A school. But I'm glad it's done and now we can have a full day to ourselves. I have to give some major props to those moms out there that work and have a family. I don't know how you do it! It's harder than people realize to work and then come home and have to immediately start dinner, then clean up, and then it's time for bed for the kids. It's hard work, so way to go for those moms that can do that. Anyways for state track, we weren't able to stay the night since some kids on the team last year wanted to be naughty and had some boys on the team sleep in their room. So they got sent home and now no sports team in the school can stay overnight anywhere. But Matt and Adam drove down with me on Saturday to keep me company and Adam had blast, I think Matt was just being kind and pretended he enjoyed it.

Adam loved to watch the races and would yell 'GO GO GO!' to all the athletes that he could. He doesn't like loud noises and every time the loud speaker came on or people would cheer extra loud he'd run back to us trying to cover his ears and hide in our laps. We'd laugh every time because he wouldn't cover his ears with his hands like normal people, but with his shoulders, so his head was ducked and his arms sticking straight up trying cover his ears and running back to us. He cracks me up!!

A cute coach from another school that I knew gave Adam a candy necklace. He was way excited and tried eating it. He didn't quite understand that he had to bite the candy, and he broke the necklace and all the candy fell off of it before he could eat a single piece. His face was so sad that I turned a blind eye as he ate them off the bleachers.

Apparently Adam has been a little bored lately because I found him on the couch like this...

I think Adam knew I would be upset if he had gotten highlighter all over his clothes and the couch, so he was extra thoughtful and removed his shirt (He hasn't figured out the pants yet) and was careful not to get one mark on the couch. He apparently stuck the marker up his nose because the next day his nose was running bright highlighter yellow snot. I just can't believe none ended up on the couch.

The last thing that we've been up to lately is that our car pooped out on us. Our beloved Camry had to be sold for pennies on the dollar for what it's worth because the engine went out. It would have cost us an arm and both legs to fix it, so we decided to sell it. So we are a one car family again. We had only one car for the first year and a half of our marriage, it worked okay then since I could ride the grimy-gross-creepy-old-men-always-staring-at-you UTA bus for free with my student card if I didn't want to wait for Matt to pick me up. Luckily this time I don't have school and I'm not an athlete anymore so I don't necessarily need a car everyday. So it will work out for the time being. Hopefully I don't go into labor suddenly. Kidding, just kidding Matt!!! (We have tons of family just minutes away.)

Hopefully something cool happens that I can post about next time instead of waiting for a couple things.

Oh Adam, you're the cutest ever!! the picture of him covered in highlighter is hilarious! I'm totally impressed it didn't get anywhere but his skin- what a good kid! Ava does stuff like that and calls everything Make Up. Even dirt on her cheeks.

We just became a one car family too-- it's a hard adjustment... hopefully someone decides to just give you one out of the blue-- that's what i'm hoping for!!

Love the contained highlighter incident, coulda been worse eh? He's a cutie :)

And if you ask me, cars are a necessary evil. Blah!

Oh WOW, what a great little artist Adam is. Not getting any highlighter on the couch is like coloring between the lines. Grandma and Grandpa Stringham sure love that little guy!!

Ha! I love love love that picture of him with the highlighter. What a delightfully thoughtful little boy you have Jess! I bet it's nice to have track over now that you only have a whopping 59 days before your beautiful babe gets here. Relax, and enjoy having the whole day to yourself.
P.S. I'm done after this week, so if you ever need me to come over to watch Adam while you go to a doctors appt. or if you need a ride somewhere, just give me a call.

Being a kid, just isn't being a kid unless you color yourself including up your nose! Lindsey once colored my yellow pieced bed quilt my mom-in-law gave us with a black sharpie marker. Oh, at the same time she also decorated my fabric covered cedar chest and walls of my bedroom.
Hope the car thing works our for you!
